The core issue in living a fruitful life

We all want to live abundant lives. God designed us to experience His love, joy, peace, and so much more. 2 Peter 1:4 calls it “the divine nature.” It is the life of Jesus growing and flowing in us and through us.

What is absolutely critical to experiencing this kind of life is how much of God’s word fills us.

The parable of the sower contains one of the very best teachings on this theme.

This truth packed parable appears in all three synoptic gospels (Matthew 13, Mark 4, Luke 8). It weaves such a depth of insight throughout that teachers have taught entire sermon series from it.

I’ve done so and despite studying and meditating on it, Year after year, I still get so much out of it.

In this article, I’m emphasizing just two themes found in Luke 8:11 of the parable.

  1. The word of God produces the life of God in us
  2. The enemy’s constant goal is to steal or hinder the word of God in our lives.
