How to Use The Song of Heaven to Make the Most of Your Life

There is a theme to all the songs of heaven that can align us and fill us with more and more of God’s life and kingdom.

Notice the Focus and Theme of These Songs of Heaven

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Go, The Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.” Revelation 4:8

“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You crated all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” Revelation 4:11

“Worthy are You to take the book and to break tis seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe, and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God and they will reign upon the earth.” Revelation 5:9–10

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.” Revelation 5:12

“And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them I heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.” Revelation 5:13

The Song of Heaven is…..

Though there are many powerful truths found in these songs and declarations, they all have one life-changing theme.

They are all about the greatness and worthiness and the holiness of God the Father and Jesus the Son.

Heaven is totally focused on how incredible, beautiful, wonderful…God is.

The focus of heaven is to give God glory and honor and power and praise and love and worship and……to fulfill the purposes of His heart.

God is the One who makes heaven heaven. Often, our world talks about how wonderful heaven will be (if it actually exists). Beautiful environment, joy, love, happiness, no pain or sorrow (and the Bible does say those realities exist).

But what they so often miss is that the One who makes heaven so wonderful is the full manifestation of God. He’s the One who is life. He is the One who creates beauty and joy and peace….because that is what is in Him.

All of heaven is singing, declaring, focusing on and giving their all to honor the Creator and fully do His will.

The Song of the World

On the other hand, the song that dominates our world, that dominates us until we are born of the Spirit and make Jesus our Focus, goes like this….

“What’s in it for me? It’s all about me. My comfort, my pleasure, my success! Feed me, take care of me, be nice to me, give me!”

The sin nature, the one we are all born with, is focused on me.

The song of heaven, the song of abundant life and life the way it was intended to be is focused on Him.

And, according to God’s word, living a “me” centered life results in short-term but never enough pleasure, emptiness, foolish decisions, pain, suffering, and missing our calling and purpose.

The Keyboard Principle

This “song of heaven”, “keep Jesus first” theme is found over and over again in Scripture. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible almost shouts to us, “God is the Creator and He is the life; live from Him and for Him as your top priority.”

Jesus said, “Seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and THEN all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

Living from God and for God is the divine design; if that is not solid in our thinking and priorities, everything else will be off.

At this moment I am typing on my keyboard and understandable words are being written. But if I move my fingers just one key over to the left or right or up or down a row and do the exact same work, mostly gibberish will appear on the page.

Every now and then something might show up that makes sense, but most of the time the exact same effort will produce a mess because my fingers are not lined up correctly on the keyboard.

It’s the same with life the way God designed it. Make it about Jesus, line up your life with His words and heart and priority, and THEN what you do produces something of real value.

The More We Know Him the Easier This is To Do

As long as we live in these mortal bodies, we’ll have to deal with our selfishness, the song of our world. Self-centeredness is wired into our decaying bodies and being renewed minds. That’s one of the reasons Jesus talked about picking up our cross and denying the selfish nature “daily.” Luke 9:23

But if each day, we intentionally set our hearts and minds on living from Jesus and for Jesus, the more we’ll move into Jesus prayer of “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

I love it that heaven is filled with great music. The melodies have to be filled with so much love and life. The words of worship just flow naturally from seeing God as He really is….the perfect blend of holy light, love, joy, power, wisdom and everything else that is good and right.

I can’t wait to see Him in the fulness of who He is. I can’t wait to join the myriads of angels and Jesus lovers who sing His song and shout His praise.

I get to experience a measure of it now, when I close my eyes or look at a scene of His creation and direct my heart and my words towards Him and how wonderful He is.

“Worthy are You……”

As a side effect, He lets me experience a little more of His love, life, joy, and peace.

Let’s sing the song of heaven each day, all day.
