Get Clarity and Power To Live God’s Purposes for Your Life

With all God’s unmeasured power and ability, the Bible shows us that He uses 3 main methods to do everything.

Why should that matter to us? Because when we learn what those meansare we can better cooperate with Him, better receive His guidance, and better receive His power to live His purposes.

God’s Primary Colors

Scientists tell us that on average most humans can distinguish around a million different color shades.

There are more shades of color that our human eyes cannot distinguish, but most of us can see around one million shades of color. Pretty amazing!

Yet, all of those wonderful colors are made possible by just 3 or so primary colors. Now there is some debate from researchers as to exactly what those 3 colors are (red, yellow, blue or red, green, blue, or cyan, magenta, yellow), but the point I want to emphasize is millions of recognizable colors come from just 3 primary colors.

I think the Bible gives us something similar regarding how God does what He does.

The Big 3 Are Found in Genesis 1 and Then Throughout the Bible

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light”; and there was light.” Genesis 1:1–3

In these first three verses of God’s word we see two of the three means God uses to do what He does.

  1. His Words.

Light did not exist in the material realm until God spoke. “God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.”

When you read the rest of the chapter, each time God wanted to create something He spoke words.

“So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

God’s word carries His power. God’s word carries His nature. Gods sends His words to accomplish His desires. God’s word succeeds, it accomplishes what God sends it to do.

The Bible describes God’s word as:

God’s Seed

God’s Sword

God’s Hammer

God’s Wisdom

God’s Power

John 1:1 even says that God and His Word are one.

God’s word not only gives us God’s knowledge and wisdom but it also carries God’s power to do what He sends it to do.

If you want more of the person of God, more of His love, more of His guidance, more of His power….soak your mind and soul with His words.

2. His Spirit.

“and the Spirit of God was moving…”

When God created the visible universe it was a combination of His Words and His Spirit uniting to accomplish God’s desire.

Before Jesus ascended into heaven He told His disciples not to try to fulfill the mission He gave them until they had received a baptism with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:5). Jesus said the Holy Spirit would give them “power” to be His witnesses.

Jesus Himself did not step into His ministry of preaching, teaching, healing, and ultimately the cross and resurrection until He received the Holy Spirit. (Luke 3–4). It was even the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead. (Romans 8:11)

Jesus told His disciples that it was actually better that He go so they could then receive the Holy Spirit. (John 14–16)

Why is the Spirit better for us than Jesus’ physically being with us? Because the Spirit actually births the nature of Jesus in us, lives in us, and empowers us to receive guidance and power from God consistently. The Spirit has the ability to live inside all believers at the same time.

The Bible tells us that when we put our faith in Jesus that we are born again by the Word of God and the Spirit of God. (1 Peter 1:23, John 3:3–6)

To know God, to know His purposes, to live the Christian life, and to do the work He has called you to do….keep being filled with the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 5:19).

3. His Creation.

Genesis 1:11–12 “Then God said, ‘Let the earth sprout vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their own kind; and God saw that it was good.”

At this point, God sets in motion the process by which what He created can re-create through the seed He placed in them. It started with plants, but would also be active in animals and then His highest creation, people.

God designed life so that much of what happens would not come directly from Him but through that which He created.

God works through nature, through angels, and much of what He does on earth is through people; especially His church.

The Bible calls believers, the church, “the body of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12, 14, Romans 12).

In His grace and love, God uses imperfect, still being healed and renewed people to do much of His work on this planet. God uses our prayers, our words, and our actions to do His will.

So again, when you need God’s guidance or help, look to His word, be filled with the Spirit, and look to the gifts God has put in different members of His body as a biblical way to receive from Him.

There is so much more to say about these three topics, but when you are needing God’s guidance or help, focus on these three means and you will be amazed at the millions of ways God can work through His primary colors to do what only He can do.

Quick Recap:

  1. God’s Words
  2. God’s Spirit
  3. God’s Creation
