Jesus Turned On the Lights
Light Releases New Dimensions of Life
Walk into a dark room. Turn on the light. What happens? An entirely new dimension, a new reality appears instantly.
You could have walked into an art gallery with the most beautiful paintings in the world, but in the darkness you do not see them or experience them. When the lights come on, you step into a new world.
Jesus came to turn the lights on. Describing Jesus’ ministry, prophetic words spoken hundreds of years beforehand said, “The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great light, and those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, upon them a light dawned. (Matthew 4:16)
John 1:4 says, “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.”
The Bible often uses words like “darkness” to describe the state of the world or the condition of individuals who have not yet united with and received God’s life. Every single human being struggles with areas of “darkness.”
Fear, addiction, anxiety, anger, depression, confusion, arrogance, timidity, and greed are but a few of the many negatives which control us much more than we would like to admit. These are but some of the darkness, and Jesus came to turn on the lights to show us a much better way: God’s design and purpose for life.
Jesus Came to Right What is Wrong
He came to set in a motion a process to right what is wrong. Jesus came to change the world from the state it was in into God’s plan and God’s will. He didn’t sit in the bunker far away from the battle. Instead, He jumped right into the middle of it.
He knew the world was in a state of spiritual darkness with the shadow of death dominating people’s lives and He came to do something about it. Spiritual darkness and the death process has NEVER been God’s will for the world.
God is a God of life, and the life of God in Jesus was the light of men. Jesus demonstrated and taught what God’s will, God’s design for life really was. People stumbling around, lost in all kinds of beliefs about God, not seeing how life really worked, or understanding what God wanted them to have, now had a light to guide them.
Jesus healed the sick and He set oppressed and addicted people free. He showed and told people what God was really like: a perfect, loving, Heavenly and the death process has NEVER been God’s will for the world. God is a God of life, and the life of God in Jesus was the light of men.
