Read and Think on These to Strengthen Your Faith and Motivation

I used to wonder if it was right to think about “benefits” in following Christ.

It seemed kind of selfish to me.

Jesus did say if we really do want to follow Him then we need to deny ourselves daily, pick up our cross and follow Him. (Luke 9:23)

He also said that if we really follow Him, in this world we will experience persecution and tribulation. (John 14:33)

No doubt about it, there is a real “cost” to following Jesus in a world that is still so influenced by sin and Satan. And we should really consider that cost in making our decision to follow Him or not. (Luke 14)

The Bible Actually Talks A Lot About Benefits

While all that is true, the Bible actually talks a lot more about the benefits, rewards, and promises of following Jesus than it does the costs and challenges.

Psalm 103:2, for example tells us, “Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not ALL HIS BENEIFTS.”

Psalm 116:12 “What shall I render to the Lord for all His BENEFITS toward me?”

Godly Benefits, Promises, and Rewards strengthen us for the battles we face.

The Apostle Paul described a major part of His ministry this way; “To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the UNFATHOMABLE RICHES of CHRIST,” (Ephesians 3:8)

God is a giver, He loves to bless, and He is a rewarder. He wants us to experience spiritually rich and eternal life.

I’m giving you here only 28 of the guaranteed benefits of following Jesus. There are many more, especially when you add on those that have conditions other than believing in Jesus.

Guaranteed Benefits

For these promises, the only condition is that you believe Jesus is the only way to God and you have received the gift of eternal life by faith as a gift of God’s grace, based on Jesus’ death and resurrection.

If you have taken that step and continue to trust Him alone for salvation these 28 benefits are yours. You just need to learn how to receive them. (That’s another lesson).

This is just a one-sentence list, with only a couple of Scriptures (there are many more). I’ll soon be doing videos of these and expanding on them in other writings.

I will say just one more thing before giving it to you. Reading these types of God-given benefits fills you with thanksgiving, gratitude, worship, faith, and motivation. God’s words are life.
