Strengthen Your Faith, Prepare Your Mind for Action Using these 12 Scriptures and Statements

One of the greatest tools God has given us in strengthening and shaping our souls are God’s words coming out of our mouths.

In James 3:3–6, Scripture compares our words to the bridle in a horses mouth, the rudder turning a ship, and a spark that can set on fire an entire forest. Something so small can turn a powerful horse, or a mighty ship, or turn a large forest into a massive fire.

James says that’s how powerful our words can be.

Jesus even said that words spoken in faith can move mountains. (Mark 11:23)

Purpose Empowering Statements

Every sincere Jesus follower wants to live God’s plans and purposes for their life. They know that a brilliant Creator, who does everything from perfect love, has made significant and fulfilling plans for them, and they are committed to knowing and doing God’s will.

Psychologists have found that what the Bible teaches about words is true. They’ve discovered that when people hear the right words, ESPECIALLY when they come out of their own mouths, it primes the brain to find solutions in goal achievement.

I’ve seen in my own life and in working with hundreds of sincere Christians, that prayerfully saying Scriptural statements based on our God goals helps shape my soul and prepare me to take action.

Here are twelve Scriptural based statements I use, and I trust will be of benefit to you as well:

  1. A brilliant, powerful, love-driven Creator has made plans and purposes for His creation. That includes me.

Psalm 33:11 “But the plans of the Lord stand firm, forever; the purposes of his heart through all generations.”

2. I have a holy calling from God Himself. My unique contributions will be in perfect alignment with God’s pillar purposes.

2 Timothy 1:9 “Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before time began.”

3. Knowing and living God’s plans comes out of a living relationship with Jesus, which is purpose and privilege #1.

John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes to the Father but by Me.”

John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

4. God wants me to succeed in the plans He made for me. He has already supplied everything I need in the spiritual realm and will release it as I follow Him. As I stay connected to Jesus, I can do everything God has called me to do.

2 Peter 1:3–4 “seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.”

5. To live God’s purposes is a combination of God’s grace and resources, together with my Jesus trusting work and effort.

Colossians 1:29 “For this purpose I also labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.”

6. To fulfill God’s call will at times be easy and at times hard. I learn from mistakes and failures, adjust when needed, keep going.

Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus….”

Philippians 3:13–14 “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do; forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

7. God’s plans for my life are too big to accomplish on my own. I pray for and take steps to build my purpose team.

1 Corinthians 12:12 “For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.”

8. I prayerfully plan my life and work. Prayer planning based on God’s pillar purposes gives me a flexible framework to follow.

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Proverbs 21:5 “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.”

9. I adjust as needed and directed by Jesus. Many of God’s purposes are seasonal and come in seed form.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven — ”

Psalm 1:3 “He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.”

10. I consistently multiply my efforts through faith, prayer, and fasting.

Mark 11:22–24 “Have faith in God. Truly, truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”

Matthew 17:21 “But this kind does not go out except by fasting and prayer.”

Acts 13:2 “While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

11. I serve to live God’s purposes. God’s work is always done out of love with a servant’s attitude. Spiritual gifts, resources, and talents are tools to help others, not make me look good.

Mark 10:43 “But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant.”

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” ! Peter 4:10

12. There are people who need what I have to give, just the way I give it. I look for them and take action to help them

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it well.” Psalm 139:14

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action….” 1 Peter 1:13a
